The first thing you should ask when collecting requirements for your project is, "What are they looking for?" This is the most essential issue to consider.
Will the customer be able to access your project once it is completed? Once all of this planning has been completed, where will your project end up?
Who are your stakeholders, team, client who will work on and profit from the completion of your project?
Even though it appears to be self-evident, I've been a part of projects where the why question was never asked!
